The NIHR climate, health and sustainability end of commitments report showcases progress over the two years of NIHR commitments. The report covers new funding, career development support, carbon emission calculations, and growing partnerships across the research sector.  

The Net Zero Catalyst is an important funding commitment for NIHR climate, health and sustainability, offering bespoke training for HealthTech innovators globally. The report reflects on the experience of HealthTech innovators joining the last phase of the three-month programme, in Spring 2026, noting the value it has brought to their product development.

The next phase of the Net Zero Catalyst launches in Autumn 2026, continuing NIHR’s commitment to support HealthTech innovators with high-quality, practical sustainability training.

About the Net Zero Catalyst

The NIHR Net Zero Catalyst supports HealthTech innovators in embedding sustainable practices. A cohort of HealthTech innovators are mentored by leading experts in sustainability, with the opportunity to compete for bridge funding to advance their ideas.

The National Institute of Health and Care Research has partnered with the product design consultancy Pd-m to deliver the NIHR Net Zero Catalyst. The annual programme offers HealthTech innovators hands-on support from academic, clinical and industry expertise in sustainability and HealthTech.
