The NIHR HealthTech Research Centre in Paediatrics and Child Health provided an insightful session exploring the landscape of child health technology, as part of the NIHR HRC Network's HealthTech Forum series. The session was held online on Wednesday 11 March 2026.

About the HRC in Paediatrics and Child Health

HealthTech Research Centre (HRCs) help medical devices, digital technology, diagnostics and in vitro diagnostics innovators to develop, evaluate and validate new health innovations to address healthcare challenges. The HRC in Paediatrics and Child Health is hosted by Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust and focusses on research aiming to deliver technology-driven healthcare for children and young people across the early life course (birth – 25 years). Each of their research themes is led by expert clinicians, based at different NHS trusts across England.

 

About the event

Attendees learnt about key developments in paediatric HealthTech, including:

  • UK Child HealthTech infrastructure, such as the newly-established National Centre for Child Health Technology
  • Accelerating the deployment of HealthTech innovations across NHS Trusts
  • Best practices and principles for working with children and young people in the development of child health technologies
  • Shared experiences from the use of AI, data informatics and machine learning in paediatric services in the NHS

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, offering a direct opportunity to engage with the session presenters.
